President Lincoln aka
Danny Russel

Repertoire:

This 45-minute portrayal runs the gamut from Lincoln’s Hoosier boyhood years (age 7-21) to his extraordinary accomplishments in the White House.  Alternately hilarious and poignant, we examine his childhood, the deaths of his mother and sister, his failures in business, his career as a prairie lawyer, his courtship of Mary and the notorious leniency he displayed toward his four beloved sons, his burgeoning political aspirations, “A House Divided,” the Emancipation Proclamation, and the strong faith sustaining him during the Civil War.  Presentation concludes with a stirring rendition of the Gettysburg Address and portions of Lincoln’s Second Inaugural.

Schedule: Available year-round.  Please visit the website and click on “Now Appearing” to view a performance calendar.

Background:
A professional actor for more than 20 years, DANNY has worked primarily in regional theatre with a handful of commercials and radio stints tossed in along the way.  In 2008, as a grant recipient selected by the Indiana Arts Commission, he was awarded funds for research and development of his Lincoln portrayal and has subsequently appeared at schools, museums, historical events, Civil War encampments and re-enactments, festivals, nursing homes, libraries, churches, scouting troops, civic organizations, senior citizen groups, and many other facilities all over the Midwest.  Currently with the Indiana Historical Society, he most recently performed in the original play “Lincoln and Douglass: A Meeting of the Minds” at the Indiana State Museum.  His other noted appearances include connections with the Library of Congress, the Lincoln Financial Foundation, and a role in the PBS documentary “Movers and Stakers:  Stories Along the National Road.”
